BE QUAKE READY
Be Quake Ready! Pack Your LIFE Bag Now!
Earthquakes strike without warning, but together, we can create a culture of preparedness and resilience. It’s time to take action and make earthquake readiness a priority for every home, school, and workplace. As advocates for safety, we encourage everyone to start by crafting a family emergency plan, identifying safe spots in their living spaces, and securing heavy objects that could pose hazards during a quake.
Equip yourself with a well-stocked emergency kit and don’t forget the power of education: Spread awareness by sharing resources like the Be-Quake-Ready YouTube video presented above, which provides life-saving tips and crucial knowledge to keep your loved ones safe.
Preparedness isn’t just about personal safety; it’s about building stronger, safer communities. Join the movement—share, inspire, and advocate. Together, let’s create a future where we’re always ready to face the shake with courage,
confidence, and care.
Everything You Need to Know is Right Here:
What causes earthquakes?
Earthquakes are a result of abrupt and uncontrolled motions from tectonic slabs below the surface of the Earth. These movements generate energy, and this energy becomes waves that shake the ground.
How can I get ready for an earthquake?
Put together an emergency kit with essential supplies (food, water, flashlight, batteries, first aid, etc.)
Stay away from windows, if possible, and identify safe places in the house (near strong desks, tables).
Conduct “Drop, Cover and Hold On” drills. Fasten heavy furniture and objects to help avoid injury..
What should I do during an earthquake?
Indoors: Get down to the ground, shelter in place underneath strong furniture, and hold on until the shaking stops. Stay clear of windows,
mirrors and heavy objects.
Outdoor: Go to an open area away from buildings, trees and power lines. Driving: Move to a safe area and stay in your car.
How can I help others prepare for earthquakes?
Share reliable information on social media and within your community.
Encourage others to prepare emergency kits and practice safety drills.
Volunteer with local disaster response teams or advocacy groups.
